Terra Tech Corp., a major player in the cannabis industry, has agreed to sell its Blüm Reno dispensary for $15 million to Picksy Reno LLC, as disclosed in recent financial filings. The transaction includes the full suite of business assets and the property at 1085 S. Virginia St., Suite A, in Reno, Nevada. This move forms part of Terra Tech's broader restructuring, redirecting funds to California operations amid a shifting market landscape.
Buyer Expands Footprint with Rebranding Plans
Picksy Reno LLC, a North Las Vegas-based entity registered in July with the state, will acquire the dispensary from Terra Tech. The company, managed by Stacie Jackson, is simultaneously purchasing Blüm's Las Vegas location for $10 million. Michael Cristalli, Picksy’s attorney, highlighted the Reno site's superior performance as the reason for its higher price tag.
Post-sale, the Reno operation will rebrand as Jade Nevada, with Cristalli assuring full compliance with regulations. The dispensary, open since January 2017, offers both medical and recreational marijuana and will continue operations uninterrupted during the 90-day closing period, pending state and local approvals.
Terra Tech Streamlines Amid Legal and Operational Challenges
Derek Peterson, Terra Tech's CEO, described the sale as a key step in the company's restructuring plan. Proceeds will fund infrastructure, sales, and marketing in California, where the firm maintains stronger assets. Recent scrutiny at the Reno site includes a $6.3 million lawsuit from former shareholder Heidi Loeb Hegerich and questions over credit card practices, though Cristalli emphasized these issues exclude the transferred assets.
Shifts Reflect Maturing Cannabis Market Dynamics
Such divestitures signal consolidation in the cannabis sector, where operators refine portfolios to focus on high-yield regions. Nevada's recreational market, legalized in 2017, has grown steadily, but companies like Terra Tech face pressures from oversupply and regulatory hurdles. For buyers like Picksy, acquiring established outlets offers immediate market access without startup risks, potentially stabilizing local supply chains as the industry professionalizes.
